Tattoo Training in Delhi

Most tattoo courses hand you a machine on day one and call it training. We don't. At Sea of Ink, you spend your first few weeks nowhere near a tattoo machine — you're building the hand control that actually makes a good tattoo artist, the same way we built ours. It's a 3 to 4 month programme, and by the end of it you'll have practised everything from cursive handwriting drills to colour blending on skin, and you'll walk out either ready to set up on your own or to intern with us.

01

We Start With Your Hand, Not a Machine

Before you touch any equipment, you work through cursive writing exercises. It sounds like an unusual place to begin a tattoo course, but it's the fastest way to train the steadiness and flow your hand will need later. From there we move through three careful stages: first tracing and drawing with a plain pencil, then working with a pencil fitted into a tattoo machine, and finally practising with a pencil in a running machine. Each stage builds muscle memory before you're anywhere near real skin.

02

Sketching, Before You Ever Touch a Tattoo Machine

Once your hand control is solid, we move into sketching — basic through advanced. You'll draw three sketches in every major tattoo category, which gives you a real feel for shading and technique across styles, rather than just the one you happen to like. This is usually where students discover which style they're actually drawn to.

03

Machines, Needles & Setting Up Your Station

From sketching we move into the technical side: understanding different tattoo machines, needle types and configurations, and how to build a clean, safe setup from scratch. You'll also learn how to make your own tattoo stencils — a skill a lot of courses skip, but one you'll use every single day once you're working.

04

Mastering Your Own Equipment

At this stage, you'll need to buy your own tattoo machine. Every machine has its own grip, stroke and vibration, and the sooner you're practising on the one you'll actually be working with, the faster it becomes second nature.

05

Practising on Skin — From Basic Text to Portraits

This is where the training gets real. You'll start tattooing on artificial skin pads, beginning with basic text and working your way up to portraits and full colour blending. We cover every major technique along the way, so you leave prepared for whatever a client asks for — not just one style of tattoo.

06

Body Anatomy, Placement & Digital Design

Before you're done, you'll learn how to find the centre line of the body and place a design correctly according to human anatomy — a detail that separates a good tattoo from a great one. We'll also train you on Procreate on iPad, so you can design and customise your own tattoos digitally, not just freehand.

What Happens After the Course

Once you've completed the programme, you're free to open your own setup, or you can stay on as an intern here at Sea of Ink and keep building hands-on experience with real clients

Tattoo Training FAQs

The full programme runs 3 to 4 months, covering everything from hand control and sketching to machine work and live practice on skin pads.

No. Everyone starts at the same point — hand control exercises and basic sketching — so prior art experience isn't required.

Yes, partway through the course. Every machine grips and vibrates differently, so you'll train on the one you plan to actually use once you start working.

You'll build up your skills on artificial skin pads first, moving from simple text to portraits and colour blending, before working with real clients.

You can set up on your own, or continue as an intern at Sea of Ink to keep building experience.
